A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
Lord Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark, rules Winterfell, the last kingdom south of The Wall, in the name of King Robert Baratheon, King of Westeros, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm. Westeros and its seven kingdoms, are all south of The Wall, which defends them from the evils beyond. The Wall, made of ice, is a humongous barrier between Westeros in the south and The Land of Always Winter up north. Winter is a fierce thing and brings death and evil with it. Winters may not occur for decades but when they come, they may last a lifetime.
The ruler of Westeros sits on the Iron Throne in King’s Landing. Whoever sits on the throne is the most powerful individual in Westeros. So, it is very difficult to grasp the throne and even harder to retain it. King Robert Baratheon and his friend, Lord Eddard Stark fought a long and bloody war alongside each other so that Robert could sit on the throne, but now others are eyeing it… Some will stop at nothing to sit on the Iron Throne… Tensions are rising… Wars are starting… And something very evil is brewing north of The Wall…
