After Emmett Atwater and the rest of Babel’s adolescent recruitments trained and studied relentlessly in order to be selected to travel down the planet Eden, Babel threw a spanner in the works… Those who didn’t qualify to go to Eden were given one last chance to make it; they have to fight one of the other recruitments who did qualify. However, it wasn’t as simple as whoever wins the fight gets to go to the planet. It was a fight to certain death, whoever lost the fight were either have been killed by their opponent or left to suffocate in the vacuum of space when their opponent’s capsule departs to Eden.
Emmett survived his fight and manipulated his Nyxia to create a barrier to protect his opponent Roathy, from the vicious void that is space. After landing on the foreign planet during the dead of night, Emmett sees no sign of any of his fellow teenage astronauts. Two large moons, one bigger than the other, occupy the night sky and illuminate the darkness.
After a treacherous trip to a Babel base on Eden, it is time for the groups to begin their job. To harvest the precious resource, Nyxia that has made Babel the monstrosity of a corporation that they are. After all of Babel’s cruel secrets and tricks, Emmett and his peers are shocked and angry. They are not living the dream they were promised when they signed their names in ink across the dotted line of their contract… Babel were always interested in themselves but now they seem to be pure evil, willing to murder and do anything for their own gain.
Stuck on a foreign planet, Emmett and the rest of the young Babel recruitments only have each other to trust in… Perhaps Eden’s equivalent of humans, the Adamites may be able to help? Can they be trusted? Or are they as bad as Babel? How can the teenage astronauts make sure they stay alive? How can they return to Earth when Babel is in control of the spaceship that is capable of returning to their home planet?
TEEN RATING: Nyxia Unleashed picks up right where its predecessor left of. Full of thrill and adventure, Nyxia Unleashed is just as exciting as the first book in the series. It is an exhibition of Scott Reintgen’s phenomenal writing skills and an ability to create a fictional story that seems all too real. Young adult science fiction at its finest, Nyxia Unleashed is a must read for fans of the genre. 4.8/5 10+
