The Fever Code (Maze Runner Series, Prequel) by James Dashner
Thomas woke up remembering nought but his name. In that cold, metal, dark lift he didn’t know who his parents were or where he had gone to school. In the Maze, the Grievers revived some memories, which WICKED had taken from him but he still knew virtually nothing about what happened before the Maze.
The sun flares struck and Earth became Hell. Slowly, the radiation levels faded and people started forming communities again, but then The Flare struck and any hope of the reconstruction of normal societies crumbled. People became plagued by the billions of Cranks (people infected by The Flare). The remnants of any government agencies formed WICKED to find a cure for The Flare virus. The Fever Code tells us about how WICKED’s tests and how Thomas and Theresa became such prominent Gladers and so crucial to finding a cure for The Flare.
TEEN RATING: The Fever Code isn’t by any means the best book in the Maze Runner Series but it worth reading if you’ve read the rest of the series. We learn so much more about WICKED but it is less adventurous and exciting than the rest of the series. 12+ 3.7/5
