The Kill Order (Maze Runner Series, Prequel) by James Dashner
First there were the sun flares and Earth became a living, breathing hell. The intense radiation was the initial problem, but as that faded people finally came to realise that there were worse problems; rivers were evaporated, cities became deserts, building crumbled and so did society. Then the disease came; the Flare infested the minds and bodies of millions, and soon it spread to billions. The Flare made people go psycho, it drove them insane. The diseased were called Cranks and they lost all control of their minds, the just wanted to kill.
But how did WICKED come to be? What caused people to remove children’s memories and put them in a maze. What happened to the world after the Flare struck billions of people?
Mark and Trina had normal lives, they went to school, played sports and hung out with their friends. And then the Flare struck and all they had was each other. What happens to you when you’ve lost your family, your home and everything you’ve ever known besides your neighbour?
TEEN RATING: Thrilling, fast-paced and filled with action, the Kill Order is similar to the other Maze Runner Books. However, I feel that this is the main piece in a jigsaw the shows us the true start of the Flare and The Maze Runner Series. It answers questions yet tells its own story. If you’ve read the other Maze Runners, you are practically obliged to read this, and trust me, you won’t regret it. 12+ 4.3/5
