Fear by Michael Grant
The FAYZ it seems will not be lasting much longer despite the somewhat surprising wish of a few numerous individuals, who it seems have changed their unwavering opinion, that the FAYZ is the closest thing to a living hell. Things are still inevitably spiralling slowly down hill, regardless of the fact that things couldn’t get much worse, the FAYZ still somehow, maybe slowly, but most definitely surely, finds a way to make the kid’s who reside there, lives harder. Yet again the FAYZ, in the shape of the Darkness has found another way to do exactly this. Except this time the kids are powerless to stop the Darkness’ latest attack, in the shape of the darkening of the dome. How are kids supposed to provide for themselves or survive when plants don’t grow and their leaders desert them and they can hardly see their hands mere centimetres in front of their very own eyes, regardless of their future? Regardless of how powerful a hold their fears may have on them, or whether they feel their business’ enterprise time has come to an end and therefore has nothing left for them only trouble, everyone must step up and look and the bigger picture.
Now that the FAYZ’s traditional leaders have stepped down, fled or simply lost their ‘rite’ to power, respectively. Others, who you may say ‘appear’ less suited to the job, have stepped up, even in this time of most imminent chaos, and have taken upon them the jobs of the very heroes that have protected them from the beginning. How are mere ‘normal’ kids support to step up and even mildly compete with the colossal giants that hold thrall of the FAYZ, but competing aside, how are they alone supposed to replace their very own heroes? What would happen if their were no choice and mere normal kids would have to step up regardless, even if their last line of defence against the Darkness has been overpowered, and they’d just be delaying the inevitable?
Teen Rating: I’ll give you a hint, The End Game is most definitely coming, but how soon it will play out is uncertain to all, but possibly one. And uncertainty, or in other words fear is common place to all in the FAYZ, such that possibly not even it’s self proclaiming god’s can escape it’s greedy grasping reach. 3.5/5 14+
